Spot Trips

Why not experience the Sierra from the saddle?

Our guided Spot Trips get you—and your gear—exactly where you want to go in style. You’ll ride by saddle stock to your chosen destination, while our sturdy pack stock safely carries in your gear.

You provide your own camping equipment, food, utensils, and personal items. Choose either one-way or round-trip service, and pay only for the days our packer and stock are in use—the length of your stay doesn’t affect the price of your trip.

When you book a Spot Trip with Rainbow Pack Outfitters, we handle the details by reserving the required Wilderness Permits for your overnight backcountry stay. Permits are available up to six months in advance on a first-come, first-served basis and are strictly regulated by USFS policy. Once reserved, your permits will be ready for pickup at the pack station on the morning of your trip.

Please note: Riding availability and restrictions may apply. Guests are encouraged to review our Policy Page for detailed information on riding requirements and limitations prior to booking.

See how much more there is to experience in the Sierra without the added weight. We’ll pack your gear into your destination of choice while you enjoy the journey, sightseeing along our scenic mountain trails. Choose one-way or round-trip service—it’s entirely up to you.

Let us do the heavy lifting with our popular Backpacker Boost. We’ll carry your pack over the most strenuous portion of the trip, all the way to the top of Bishop Pass—and we’ll meet you there. You pay only for the dates that involve packer and stock use; the length of your stay does not affect the price of your trip.
